Top 5 Social Networking Apps Performance in Italy Q2 2024

In the second quarter of 2024, the top social networking applications in Italy exhibited diverse performance trends across downloads, revenue, and weekly active users, according to Sensor Tower data.

Threads, developed by Instagram, Inc., saw a notable fluctuation in downloads. The app started the quarter with approximately 76K downloads, dipping to around 54K in early May, and then rebounding to nearly 79K by the end of June. Weekly active users showed a steady increase, rising from about 1M to over 1.2M.

Google Meet, from Google, experienced a peak in downloads mid-April with around 44K, but saw a general decline towards the end of the quarter, ending at roughly 24K. The number of weekly active users fluctuated, peaking at approximately 549K in early May before declining to 474K by late June.

Telegram Messenger, by Telegram FZ-LLC, maintained consistent revenue, averaging around $22K per week. Downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 56K and 66K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users hovered around 11M, peaking at 11.7M in mid-May.

WhatsApp Messenger, by WhatsApp Inc., saw a gradual increase in downloads, starting at approximately 57K and ending the quarter with around 71K. Weekly active users remained stable, averaging around 33M throughout the quarter.

Facebook, developed by Meta Platforms, Inc., experienced a peak in downloads in early May with about 86K, followed by a decline to around 67K by the end of June. Revenue showed a slight upward trend, reaching about $22K in mid-June. Weekly active users remained robust, averaging around 23M and peaking at 24M in early June.
